Jamestown Settlement Volunteer Training Academy - February 18 & 19Scott Crawford, Steven Roe, Kirk Sullens, Mona Pieron and Richard Swinney travelled to Virginia to participate in the Jamestown Settlement Volunteer Training Academy. This two day seminar introduced reenactors to the philosophy and mechanics of historical interpretation at Jamestown Settlement in preparation for the 400th anniversary activities in 2007. We enjoyed the training and hospitality of the Jamestown Settlement staff, including the opportunity to sleep in the Court of Guard (armoury) in the Settlement. With a low of 14 degrees F and a high the following day that was well below freezing, we gained a new appreciation for the hardships of the original colonists. With this high quality training under our belts we were prepared for Jamestown's 400th Anniversary May 11-13 2007 |
